Fruit Bites: Redefining Snacking Habits with Nutritious Dried Fruits

Revolutionizing Packaging Design for Healthy Kids' Snacks

The Fruit Bites packaging designs, created by Nour Shourbagy, are transforming the way children snack, encouraging them to choose natural dried fruits over unhealthy junk snacks. With a focus on empowering parents to improve their children's eating habits, this innovative design combines functionality, creativity, and nutritional benefits.

The inspiration behind the Fruit Bites project stemmed from the founder's personal journey. After becoming a mother, she realized the importance of providing her family with healthier food options. This realization led to the creation of Fruit Bites, a brand that offers nutritious guilt-free snacks for kids.

The main unique feature of the Fruit Bites packaging is the inclusion of character designs that appeal to children and motivate them to opt for one hundred percent natural dried fruits. By incorporating playful fruit characters, the design aims to captivate kids' attention and encourage them to make healthier snacking choices.

The packaging pouches are transparent, allowing children to see the fruits inside and ensuring parents that the product is of good quality. This transparency also adds an element of excitement and curiosity for kids, making the snacking experience more engaging.

With dimensions of 90mm width, 45mm depth, and 140mm height, the Fruit Bites packaging is compact and convenient for on-the-go snacking. The size is perfect for little hands to hold and carry, making it an ideal choice for school lunches, picnics, or any other outdoor activities.

Through extensive research, the brand identified parents as the primary target audience. However, they recognized the importance of designing for kids as well. By creating packaging that appeals to children, parents are more likely to give Fruit Bites a try and introduce their children to healthier snacking habits.

The design execution of Fruit Bites was driven by the desire to empower families to change their snacking habits and improve their overall health and lifestyle. By focusing on the needs and preferences of children, the brand aims to create a positive impact on the well-being of families.

The Fruit Bites project was initiated in August 2019 and completed in October 2019 in Cairo. Throughout the process, the designer faced challenges in visualizing the benefits of different fruits in a way that children could easily understand and relate to. However, through creative problem-solving, the team successfully designed characters that reflect the specific benefits of each fruit.

Recognized for its outstanding creativity and ingenuity, the Fruit Bites packaging design was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2020. This prestigious accolade celebrates designs that incorporate best practices in art, science, design, and technology, contributing to improvements in quality of life.

Fruit Bites is not just a packaging design; it is a catalyst for change in children's snacking habits. By offering nutritious dried fruits in an appealing and engaging way, this design is revolutionizing the concept of healthy snacks for kids.
